Youth Spotlight – Na’Ya McKenzie Kendrick

August 10, 2021

Fellowship Bible Baptist Church’s Youth Spotlight for August 2021 is Na’Ya McKenzie Kendrick

Na’Ya McKenzie KendrickHello Fellowship, I am Na’Ya McKenzie Kendrick, daughter of Markeita Kendrick and grand-daughter of Zelda Kendrick-Hill. I just turned 16 years old in June and will be entering into my junior year at West Side School in Macon, GA this fall. Currently, I am part of the Technology Student Association (TSA) where I am on the Pre-College and Gifted Track, majoring in Engineering and Robotics.

I have the most fun when I am competing in Science Fair competitions. We have placed second in several overall competitions since 8th grade. I am looking forward to us being in first place in my junior or senior year. I also have two other great accomplishments that I am very proud of. The first one is when I won $500 Citi Trend shopping spree for my “Where Will Your Dreams Lead Us” essay. I wrote about my dream to become a clinical psychologist after college and to travel the world helping people with emotional and mental disorders. My second accomplishment is when I made Salutatorian at my 10th grade end of year Honors Day program. I was so excited! My family has always taught me to strive for excellence in everything that I do, and Fellowship has always taught me to stay focused.

Just like my grandmother, I love serving at The Ship. I was baptized by Pastor Willie Reid. I am on the Jr. Hospitality team where Miss Stephanie Jordan, Miss Latoya Lanier and Miss Sylvia Mitchell are my mentors. I am also a part of the Acteen Ministry where I learn how to give back to others. I thank Miss Tracy Joseph for her leadership!! But on a serious note, I may be small in stature with a very quiet voice, but my grandmother and Fellowship has both taught me that to become a leader I must continue to grow in the Lord and God will rise my voice to always lead by example by letting my light shine in Faith.
