August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. As children gear up to go back to school, be sure to make an appointment for your child to receive a comprehensive eye exam. When children can’t see clearly, it affects their academic and athletic performances. Here are some warning signs that may show your child is suffering from vision problems.
• Wandering or crossed eyes
• A family history of childhood vision problems
• Disinterest in reading or viewing distant objects
• Squinting or turning the head in an unusual manner while watching television

Eye safety is also very important. Thousands of children each year suffer from eye safety related injuries from sports, toys, and fireworks. So, make sure to take the proper precautions to protect your child’s vision during these activities.
