Senior Spotlight: Solomon Washington

The Great Door Keeper

Solomon was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on July 23, 1948 to Solomon and Chaney Washington. His birth opened the doors for four generations of Solomon Washingtons. He has been happily married twice. First to Pam Haygood (now deceased) with whom two children were born: Melanie Hudson and Solomon Washington IV. Currently he is married to Bettye Cleveland-Washington. He is the proud grandfather of three boys and one four year old girl. Solomon joined the United States Air Force on September 17, 1971 and served for 20 years retiring with the rank of Major. After leaving the military, he worked with HODAC, a non-profit agency in Warner Robins until June 2004. As a member of FBBC for approximately twenty-six years, he has served in various positions, i.e. Admin Team and Royal Ambassadors. Currently he is involved with 4th and 5th grade Sunday School classes, the Usher Ministry and a member of the FBBC Human Resource Team. Solomon says: “Proverbs 3:5-6 has been key in my life and great instructions for church members regardless of age. ‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths.’”
