Seasoned Saint Spotlight – Sister Baserine Grace

FBBC Senior Saint for July 2019:
Sister Baserine Grace

Sister Baserine GraceGod has really blessed Fellowship Bible Baptist Church with some very dedicated members.
As we read the different narratives months after months, there appears to be no end to his
blessings. Using the questioning interview technique, I present to you – Sister Baserine
Grace.

Sister Baserine, when and where were you born?
I was born June 28, 1944 in Cordele,
Georgia (The Watermelon Capital)…Crisp County….To the proud late parents of Mr &
Mrs Johnnie L. Colson, to a family of 10 children (I’m Number 8)

What is your spouse’s name?
Widower

How long have you been married?
Widower for 24 years

Do you have children? If yes, how many and their names.
Proud Mother of two children, (Yolanda and Michael), 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren

What are your hobbies/interests?
My hobbies include traveling with other retirees,
watching and attending all seasons of sports, singing, and reading.

Tell us briefly about your career including activities at Fellowship.
I graduated from A.S. Clark High School in 1963 and later went back to Nursing School. I graduated from
North Height School of Nursing with a LPN License. I truly love my nursing career and still doing some capacity of it today. I retired from Houston Medical Center in 2010 after 31 years of service (Pharmacy/Floor). I joined Fellowship Bible Baptist Church in 1996, and have since been a member of the Mass Choir, Caring Hearts Ministry, and Christian Enrichment.

How has your career molded you as a person?
My career has taught me to be compassion to the sick and the ones in need; because if you keep living, you may be in that same shape/predicament. Always respect the “Sick” and the “Elders”.

What are the most important lessons you’ve learned in life?
Treat people the way you want to be treated, rather young or old.

How would you like to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered as a hardworking, loving, giving servant of God, and planting seeds for the Kingdom of God.

What is your “your message” (words of wisdom) to Generations X, Y and Z?
“Be Respectful”

What is your “special” Scripture?
I have two: (1) Psalms 37:4 – Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give the desires of thine
heart (2) Psalms 100:5 – For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
