Facilities Maintenance Specialist
The FMS is responsible for the maintenance, repair, upkeep and replacement of church facilities, grounds, and equipment. This could include working alongside outside vendors and contractors and making recommendations for needed renovations and improvements to the Director of Facilities.

  1. Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Ensure the church buildings and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and operational.  This includes routine checks, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
    • Duties require lifting 50lbs or more.
    • Performs basic and skilled painting, carpentry, and electrical tasks.
    • Repairs and performs maintenance on plumbing fixtures, lightning, air vents and air conditioning units.
    • Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that facilities are operating smoothly and efficiently.
    • Performs general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
  2. Vendor Management:
    • Oversee contracts and relationships with outside vendors, such as landscapers, janitorial services, and equipment repair professionals.
  3. Safety and Security:
    • Implement and maintain safety procedures and protocols to protect parishioners, staff, and church property.
  4. Budget Management:
    • Manage the facility’s budget, ensuring costs are kept within allocated funds.
  5. Improvements and Renovations:
    • Plan and oversee any construction, remodeling, or renovation projects.
  6. Equipment Management:
    • Ensure all equipment, from sound systems to HVAC units, functions correctly and is serviced regularly.
    • Maintain the service maintenance with church vehicles
  7. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure the church facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, fire safety, and ADA requirements.

  • Work schedule will require flexibility due to church related events as well as external events
  • Use of Box truck includes pickup and delivery of church supplies, maintain upkeep and service maintenance
  • Plumbing Maintenance
  • Inventory management of janitorial supplies
  • Strong verbal and nonverbal and communication skills
  • Proactive in seeing and addressing facility needs
  • Physically able to handle cleaning, lifting, climb ladders, etc.
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Upkeep of church facilities
  • Coordinate weekly cleaning schedules with those providing janitorial services
  • Support and assist with environmental service as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate set up of various church areas/rooms for church events
  • Work closely with Manager on weekly church schedule to ensure areas of the church requiring reconfiguration are done successfully and completed efficiently
  • Coordinate with various vendors that regularly provide services for the church, preventive maintenance
  • Serve as the main contact and coordination point for lawn services, exterminators, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator, fire alarms, security systems, etc.

Minimum of a high school diploma (college a plus)

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance
