Senior Spotlight: Mary Esta Fuquol Warner

March 6, 2016

The March Senior Spotlight is focused on Mary Esta Fuquol Warner, known to us as Mary Warner. She was born in Soperton, Georgia (Treutlen County). On June 8, 1974, Mary said ‘yes’ to her true love Thomas K. Warner and they have been married for 41 years. They have one daughter, Niandra (Nia) Warner and one grandson, Chase Skyler Warner. Mary enjoys watching her grandson play basketball and baseball, and when time permits, she loves to read, listen to the radio and watch TV. Mary also likes visiting relatives and friends, as well as, traveling and watching sporting events, which can be linked with some of her spouses’ special interests. Mary’s career path was Early Childhood Education. She was a dedicated educator in the public school system for 34 years. She had a passion for working with kindergarten, first and second graders because helping to mold many young lives was at the top of her list of “important things to do.” Mary’s ties to FBBC include serving or participating in the Mercy Showing Ministry, Comforters Ministry, Family Promise Ministry, Greeters Ministry, Culinary Ministry, Women’s Fellowship, Sole to Soul Evangelism Outreach, Deacon Hopson’s Enrichment Class, Unity Prayer, Sunday Worship, and Bible Study. When talking about important life lessons, Mary states that she learned that “Love” is the core of life. She also states that it is about accepting God’s love for us and loving God back. Her anchor Scriptures for her ‘Love Model’ are: “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV). “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15 NKJV) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 NKJV) Mary’s summary message is that she learned “people” are far more important than schedules, places, or things. To future generations she states to make pleasing God the ultimate goal of your life. Choose your friends and associates carefully and prayerfully. REMEMBER, choices have consequences. Take time to think things through and make wise choices. (Writer: Elder Isaiah Whittaker)
