On the second Sunday in June 1988, a ground-breaking ceremony marked the spot and the project was underway to erect this new sanctuary. Everyone made tremendous sacrifices to build the new sanctuary. In October 1992, the Fellowship Bible Baptist Church family entered the new sanctuary without a mortgage! God’s sustaining power had once again been demonstrated in the lives of the Fellowship family. In September 1993, Fellowship Bible Baptist Church opened a Christian Academy. The Academy offered programs for K-3 though 8th grade. In November 1994, Fellowship Bible Baptist Church purchased the Thomas Elementary School building at 801 Watson Boulevard. The faculty and students moved into the building in December 1994. The school used the ABEKA curriculum. The students prospered and outscored their peers on all standardized tests, but because of a lack of community support the school was closed in 1998. The building was sold to the City of Warner Robins in 2002 and is now the site of the new Macon State College campus. In March 1998, Fellowship Bible Baptist Church purchased forty-eight acres of land across the street from our current sanctuary. Included with the property was a small house. The house was renovated and dedicated to the memory of Henecia Hopson in October of 2002. The Hopson House is used to host small group meetings. The mortgage for this land was paid off in May of 2001. It is on this land that we will build our new worship center. In October of 2002, ground was broken on a new Fellowship Hall behind our current worship center. It was completed in August of 2004 and ribbon cutting ceremony held in September of the same year. The Fellowship Hall includes a state of the art kitchen, elegant pastoral suite and conference room, and office space for all of the church staff. The dining hall can seat up to 220 people. Any of the rooms in the Fellowship Hall can also be used as overflow seating for the sanctuary with the new video distribution system that was installed. "In October of 2003, Fellowship began a stewardship campaign, “God First, Building On His Glory”, to build our new dome sanctuary on the 48 acres of land we purchased in 1998." To date over $1 million dollars above our tithes and offerings has been raised toward our goal. In 26 years the Fellowship family has grown from 2 members to well over 2500 members. We strive to meet the needs of those within our community, and provide a place where everyone can come and worship our Savior Jesus Christ. Though we have accomplished much, our work has only just begun. |
